How to manage an infection of the biomaterial inserted into the sinus?
Dr. Michele Jacotti shows a clinical case in which a patient, following a sinus lift procedure, developed reactive sinusitis and a tissue infection that also caused an abscess.
Participants noted that once the sinus was reopened, the presence of granulation tissue could be observed, which had to be carefully removed using alveolar spoons and sinus scoops.
In order to remove the defect even more thoroughly, a debridement inside the sinus cavity is performed with Piezo surgery followed by cleansing of the sinus cavity.
The treatment is then finalized with a further pass with Piezo to clean the bone walls and a final irrigation with Betadine to completely disinfect the area.
