The aim of implant-prosthetic restorations is to achieve a restoration that blends fully into the context and looks as much like a natural tooth as possible.
In order to achieve this important outcome, it is necessary
to treat peri-implant aesthetic defects.
In this video lecture,
Dr Mazzotti discusses the management of peri-implant soft tissue dehiscences.
The factors that can have a negative impact on the stability of soft tissue margins are presented and a new classification of these deficits proposed by Prof. Giovanni Zucchelli's team is illustrated.
This subdivision has a dual interpretative key: the position of the implant crown in relation to the curved line connecting the gingival margins of adjacent teeth will determine 4 different classes, while the height of the papillae in reference to the gingival margins will give rise to 3 different sub-classes.
Finally, a clinical case is shown for each of the above-mentioned
clinical situations through which the treatment workflow is analysed step by step.
Particular attention is paid to the area of the anatomical
papilla, which are considered essential to provide a
vascular bed for the coronal displaced flap and to give
stability to the interproximal soft tissue.
