Clinical video description:
In this Re-LIVE Surgery, Dr. De Stavola performs a bone augmentation of the alveolar ridge by following Khoury’s Technique protocol.
In the first phase of the surgery, participants will have the opportunity to appreciate the incision and detachment of the flap and the subsequent exposure of the mandibular bone.
The surgeon shows how to check the correct size of the previously created surgical template using the CAD-CAM process and then proceeds to stabilize the template with osteosynthesis screws.
The surgeon also shows how to create an osteotomy line using a Piezo instrument. The osteotomy takes place in a very controlled situation thanks to the careful preparation phase and the help of the surgical template.
Following Khoury’s Technique protocol, Dr. De Stavola divides the harvest into two segments by creating a deep osteotomy line resulting in two cortical blades. The surgeon then shows the thinning phase of the two blades whereby autologous spongy bone is harvested and used as a filler to properly vascularise the area.
During the final phase of this Re-LIVE, Dr. Luca De Stavola inserts the two rigid blades of the mandibular bone and their respective screw fixation, as well as the autologous spongy bone into the wound area.The fundamental objective of the surgery is to obtain the primary mechanical stability of the graft.
