EPP (Entire Papilla Preservation) is an innovative tunnel technique that is very useful in the management of isolated and very deep intrabony defects, especially if located in the lower arch.
In this clinical video, participants will be able to observe Prof. Giulio Rasperini solving, at first, the intrabony defect while improving the phenotype of the soft tissues adjacent to elements 32 and 33 and then correcting, in the same surgery, a gingival recession with the placement of a connective graft taken from the palatal site.
The particularity of the clinical case presented here consists in the characteristics of the patient: the poor phenotype in fact requires the restoration of a good morphology of the soft tissues with the aim of repositioning the gingival tissue more coronally.
Prof. Rasperini also shows how the cleaning of the infraosseous component is performed by moving the flap in a coronal direction, so as to gain access to the area of the defect, which was very deep, then separating the healthy gingival tissue from the granulation tissue and also eliminating all the biofilm and tartar present in the area.

About the speaker
The research activity of Prof. Giulio Rasperini is mainly focused on the perio-implant field. In particular, he has coordinated randomised clinical trials, studied the action of new biomaterials and growth factors, and successfully explored new surgical techniques for periodontal regeneration. In 2017 he founded iPerio, a team dedicated to research and education.
