In this video lecture several class II malocclusion clinical cases will be shown in order to demonstrate how Carrière Motion Appliances can be used to treat different problems such as incorrect occlusions, huge overjets, retruded mandible and functional constricted airways. The reasons of the efficiency of Carrière appliances will be discussed paying specifical attention to the differences between them and traditional braces or aligners.
In particular, the following topics will be covered in this lecture:
- The importance of rotating the molar in a distal position
- How to avoid negative impacts for the patients’ aesthetics
- The comparison between Carrière Motion and braces or aligners
- How the Motion appliance distributes the stress and holds the structure’s weight
- How to retract the anterior teeth after having reached class I platform

El docente
Dr. Carrière obtained his dental degree from the University of Complutense in Madrid (UCM), in 1991. He then attended the University of Barcelona (UB) where he completed his Orthodontic training and received his Master of Science in Orthodontics in 1994. In 2006, he received his Doctorate in Orthodontics, Cum Laude, from the University of Barcelona (UB). In May 1995, Dr. Carrière became the proud recipient of the “Joseph E. Johnson Award” from the American Association of Orthodontists. He has also won the International Design Award Delta Gold ADI-FAD 2009 with the “Carriere® DistalizerTM MB”. Dr. Carrière is a Member of the Editorial Review Board for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, as well as an invited professor at several Orthodontic departments throughout the world. Dr Carrière is the inventor of both the internationally known CarriereSelf-Ligating Bracket and the Carriere MotionTM Appliance. He is a world-renown lecturer on these products, in addition to many other topics. Dr. Carrière also maintains his private practice in the Carrière Orthodontic Centre in Barcelona, Spain.
