Implants in the Aesthetic Zone: From Successful Placement to Failure Management
7 lecciones · 10h 45min

De qué trata

In this lecture, Dr. Tomarelli and Dr. Ghezzi present two contrasting workflows for the treatment of single-tooth edentulism in the aesthetic zone: the analog (traditional) approach vs the fully digital workflow.

The analog approach relies on conventional techniques such as physical impressions, gypsum models, and manual prosthetic design in the dental lab. It is cost-effective and widely accessible, but more time-consuming and operator-dependent.

In contrast, the digital approach leverages intraoral scanners, 3D radiographic imaging (CBCT), guided surgery, and CAD/CAM software for virtual planning and prosthesis fabrication. Although it requires a higher initial investment and digital expertise, it offers superior precision, workflow standardization, and improved patient experience.

The lesson highlights the strengths and limitations of both approaches, helping clinicians choose the best strategy based on available resources, clinical goals, and patient expectations.

In particlar, this lecture covers the following topics:

  • Analog workflow: relies on manual steps, physical materials, and clinician skill; cost-effective but time-intensive.
  • Digital workflow: employs scanners, CBCT, CAD/CAM, and 3D printing for faster, more predictable results.
  • Pros & cons: analog is accessible and low-cost, while digital offers precision and patient comfort but requires investment.
  • Clinical decision-making: the choice between analog and digital depends on case complexity, available tools, and operator expertise.
