In this lecture, Dr. Carlo Monaco presents a multidisciplinary protocol for managing implants affected by aesthetic failure or peri-implant disease.
The protocol consists of two phases: a pre-prosthetic phase and a surgical phase.
In the pre-prosthetic phase, a detailed clinical evaluation is conducted to assess implant position, soft and hard tissue conditions, and overall aesthetics. Based on this, necessary prosthetic modifications, such as replacing inadequate components or adjusting crowns, are planned to optimize the final result.
In the surgical phase, targeted procedures like connective tissue grafting to improve soft tissue volume and guided bone regeneration to correct bone defects are performed.
The protocol emphasizes the importance of precise planning and collaboration between periodontists and prosthodontists, ensuring predictable and successful outcomes in complex clinical cases with both aesthetic and functional goals.
