In this ReLIVE Surgery session, Prof. Giovanni Zucchelli demonstrates the clinical management of a soft tissue–critical case, three months after crown removal.
The lecture focuses on improving the apical–coronal position of the gingival margin in the presence of extremely thin tissues. Particular attention is given to connective tissue graft advancement to compensate for tissue transparency in the suprabony abutment area and to restore stable, natural peri-implant soft tissues.

Giovanni Zucchelli
Giovanni Zucchelli, DDS, Ph.D. graduated in 1988 from the University of Bologna, Italy with a degree in dentistry. He was Professor of Periodontology and Implantology at the University of Bologna, Italy, from 2000 to 2025. Giovanni Zucchelli received many awards for clinical research in periodontology in Europe and the United States. Innovator of several soft tissue plastic surgical techniques, he is also author of more than 100 publications in Pubmed. He is speaker at major international conferences on periodontology and has taught theoretical and practical (with live surgery) courses in numerous countries. Zucchelli is the author of the book titled, "Mucogingival Esthetic Surgery" best seller from Quintessence Publishing which is published in 10 different languages and co-author of two illustrated textbooks on periodontal plastic surgery (Ed. Martina) and of the chapter "Mucogingival Therapy-Periodontal Plastic Surgery" in Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (Lindhe J, Lang NP, Karring T [eds], Wiley-Blackwell).
