What it covers

Building on the surgical strategies of Part 1, this session focuses on the anatomy and characteristics of attached gingiva and their influence on graft stability and long-term success.

Dr. Chu reviews the structure of attached gingiva, including epithelial attachment, gingival fibers, and periosteum, showing how these anatomical features affect graft integration, tissue stability, and aesthetic outcomes.

Clinical examples demonstrate how understanding the biological foundations of the gingiva guides surgical planning and optimizes the predictability of the Triple Layer Graft Protocol.

In particular, this lecture covers the following topics:

  • Anatomy of attached gingiva: epithelial attachment, gingival fibers, and periosteum
  • Influence of gingival structure on graft stability and integration
  • Planning graft procedures based on biological tissue characteristics
  • Optimizing esthetic and functional outcomes through proper tissue management
