What it covers

Achieve invisible restorations in complex fractures by mastering polychromatic layering and the mimicry of internal anatomical structures.

In this comprehensive clinical case, Dr. Bora Korkut demonstrates the complete restoration of a crown fracture using an advanced polychromatic layering technique. The challenge lies in the perfect imitation of the adjacent natural tooth: Dr. Korkut shows how to stratify different masses to replicate the specific mamelon effects and incisal translucency of the symmetrical central incisor. The lesson follows a "Check & Copy" workflow, where every anatomical detail of the reference tooth is analyzed and transposed into the composite restoration. Finally, the shaping and contouring phase refines the transition lines and surface texture, ensuring the direct restoration is indistinguishable from natural enamel.

Closing: The success of a polychromatic restoration depends on the clinician's ability to analyze and replicate the internal optical map of the natural tooth, from dentin opacity to incisal characterization.

Key topics covered in this lecture:

  • Polychromatic Layering: Managing enamel and dentin masses for depth and natural translucency.
  • Mamelon Imitation: Techniques to replicate internal incisal edge effects and mamelon structures.
  • The "Copy" Concept: Protocols for using the symmetrical tooth as a direct anatomical reference.
  • Final Contouring: High-level finishing to integrate the restoration into the smile's harmony.
